Pizza Crown & A Sweet Treat, Aylesford
It's been humid since first thing this morning and by the time we headed out for the usual weekly food shop it was absolutely baking hot (above 30C) but we still decided to stop off on the way back to visit the Food & Drink Festival at The Friars. When we got there, after parking our car back in the village, it was even hotter if that was possible.
Our ongoing project is to go to as many festivals, fayres, fetes and the like this year to try and take images. Unfortunately, often when I arrive at them I get apprehensive and feel uneasy, retreat and then castigate myself for not getting closer or more involved or not asking people for a portrait. Today I really struggled but I did manage to take this one shot that I rather like. Their eyes are shut, I used the wrong white balance (I think it reflects the heat, though!) and the photo is on the wonk (I did also love the man with the fan in the background, however) but it weirdly works somehow. I'm also trying to persevere with zone focusing and it's very hit and miss at the moment.
I''ll keep trying to get braver and closer but some days it exhausts you more than others for some reason and today was one of those. We did have a lovely end to our local photographic safari, though. We tried bao buns for the first time ever and they were bloody delicious!
