A is for Abi

Before I say anything else, I must celebrate the Minx's determination to make today perfect for Abi: when I thought the house was tidy, she made it (significantly) tidier; she put up decorations around the living and dining rooms; brought up a load of wine; and rustled up a huge amount of absolutely excellent food. 

And as a consequence of all this, when the party started at about four o'clock, it was simply fantastic. All Abi's siblings were there, save Izzy (in Kyiv) and the miniMinx (performing in London). And they were joined by a whole bunch of friends and neighbours. 

I don't think people started leaving until after eight, although the family resolutely carried on. I reluctantly took myself off to bed at around ten, as I need to pack in the morning!

All in, I think Abi had a wonderful day.  

The picture is, of course, Abi's birthday cake, made in the style I adopted for Charlie's early birthdays, over thirty years ago. I can't say it's evolved much - or at all, in fact - over the decades, but I've never received any complaints :-)
