To France!

My plan had been to pack yesterday afternoon, but in the end I just couldn't find time (or didn't try hard enough).

Thankfully, I'd made a comprehensive packing list, so I got up early this morning, found everything on it, and packed it into bags, and then the car. 

And so we were still on the road well before nine, our designated latest setting off time. 

Far and away the best part of the journey was travelling from Kirkby Lonsdale to the top of the M1, after which it was pretty dull until we weren't far from Folkestone. 

Our crossing - surely not the right word for travelling under the Channel - went smoothly, as did the hour's trip south though France, down to our Best Western hotel, L'Aquarium. 

I must say, that for €70 per night, I'd highly recommend it: nice room, good bar, friendly staff. 

And a swimming pool. Just what I needed!
