Calla Lily

Working most of the day in the baking hot south facing corner of the garden. I leave calls lilies out in their pots all year round and they just magically flower on cue every summer. Plants just seem to explode into growth here - the kniphofia in the background only went in during autumn last year. The disadvantages are that it needs consistent watering and weeding and it’s often too hot to work there. That’s when I take myself off to the cool shade of the Far Side. Apart from weeding I dug up and potted for a gardening friend a Japanese Anemone. Truly lovely with a delicate springlike flower but it rampages here. There’s a lot to learn about gardening in a microclimate.
