More for orange week
My orange week continues with this engaging little creature I found on the butterfly reserve this morning. What a mini punk he is with that ginger topknot and metallic cloak!
I think this Nemophora metallica, a longhorn moth, and it's sitting on a field scabious flowerhead (its food plant). The butterflies I mostly saw, and indeed am mostly seeing around home, are green-veined whites and meadow browns, but I'm still really missing the admirals/peacocks/tortoiseshells/painted ladies. Perhaps they'll turn up, but it seems a long time to wait for them.
The other high spot of my day was buying half a kilo of strawberries from the farm shop. They're so delicious you don't need sugar or even cream with them. Wonderful.
Okay, that's it from me. Enjoy your (hopefully not quite so hot) evening xx
