30 degrees on 30th June!

Breakfast outside before it got too hot! At that stage the birds were singing. The butterflies were all over the garden and there was barely a breath of warm breeze. By 1100 we had to retreat inside. After 3 days at the Cotswold Show I was pleased to have a rest day today and watched some of the opening day at Wimbledon. It was even hotter there peaking just below 33 degrees!
Jeremy Clarkson sums up our summer here : In March Diddly Squat had no rain at all. Not even a drop. In April we got 20mm, which in old money is nothing at all. And so far in May we’ve had 4mm. You couldn’t keep a window box going with a dribble like that. It’s been drier than it was in 1976.
