L'aube
For the second time in 12 and a half years I managed a dawn walk along Braid Hills Drive and caught the sun lighting up over the Bass Rock, Berwick Law and the Hopetoun Monument. It was very still and peaceful (apart from a rogue car alarm) and not cold. I walked back via Liberton Park.
And that set the tone for the rest of the day, most of which was spent in the garden. I tidied the garage (another job in the list done) and then the front garden, including summer pruning rose Amelia. It's not a repeat flowerer.
Though cloudy it was warm, good gardening weather, so round the back I dead headed, hoed and summer pruned the Pyracantha without cutting the wire this time. Filled up the bird feeders and was amused by the magpies who I'm sure we're telling one another to come and get the food. Later I sorted some clematis. There is good clematis news too. There namesake that I thought was dead but dug out to see if I could resuscitate seema to be throwing out to no shoots. Early days. There was also a dribble of washing to hang out. Much earlier If finished my Sandi Toksvig book as and whilst in the kitchen had woken up my sourdough starter. I think it looks ok.
The rest of the time I sat in the cloud/sunny intervals sewing and completed a second square. And there was an update from #2, they are both coming.
It was getting much more overcast but I was going out so had a shower and changed and bussed it to the Sheraton for an odd meeting with F about ECDT. However I got a G&T fitted my trouble. 2 buses home by after 8 and had something to eat, more leftovers, and tried to find something to watch in TV. Agreed a weekend of Glasto it's now wall to wall Wimbledon. Couldn't even find a decent film.
It was just over 20 Deg. There sun getting hot, when it was out, but nothing like the heat down south which seems to demand constant discussion of. And although there were a lot of blank cloths at points during these day we've had no rain.
The early walk replaced the swim and I've managed to go a while day without opening my laptop.
