North York Moors Railway

Tuesday 1st July 2025

A change of genre today. We started just outside Goathland to view the steam train, which was successful. The plan was then to dash to Levisham station to watch the train come in, except I went the wrong way and we missed it. It also wasn't the station I was expecting. We waited until it was on its way back to see it in the station and then return to the viewing point to see it again. Unfortunately the engine was the wrong way round that time.

We moved on to Goathland, had our picnic in the car and went to the tea shop for a drink. We walked through tbe village, stopping at Ainsdale Garage, and down to the station. We had an hour to wait to catch the train coming in to the station, before making a dash back to the viewpoint to catch it one more time.

We headed back home for a quick drink and then had another hour on the cliff at Bempton, watching the gannets and trying to improve our photography - see extra
