Siblings
I had to finish off the work I started last night, and send a few messages. Once that was done I got myself organised to visit my parents.
I had a quick chat with BB, who was still pretty much comatose, then set off to drive to my parents. I drove through all sorts of grim and grey weather. Not much in the way of sunshine. My mum’s brother is visiting them at the moment. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1959, and this is the first time he has been back to Scotland. It’s the first time I have ever met him. My brother visited him in New Zealand a few years ago.
I have to say it was rather strange meeting someone I have known about all my life, but he is very nice. I was immediately transported back to the 1950’s as there was a lot of reminiscing going on!!
I took them all out for lunch, and a little wander at a local nature reserve. It was very warm, but rather humid, and felt like it was going to rain, but it didn’t. We then went into town for a wander, and to pick up a few things. There was more reminiscing with someone my mum used to work with.
We then had a wee walk by the loch. It was very grey and was getting greyer. My dad bumped into another couple of old acquaintances, so more catching up. I dropped them back home, and went for a walk. The rain started, though wasn’t too heavy, and the weather really closed in. We had fish and chips for tea? When my brother joined us.
I eventually headed home, and had a very smooth journey, untilI hit the bypass, which was closed. Thankfully the detour wasn’t as bad as the last closure I encountered.
The boys were watching a movie when I eventually got home. Once it was finished, BB chatted to me about his holiday, and showed me a few photos. It sounds like they had a great time.
This is my mum and her brother.
