My new reaction specs…
Just what I need when it’s pouring with rain! But perfect for WidWed with the theme of new! And since I have newish orange crocs and a new orange (called Cumin by Seasalt) linen tunic these specs will complete the look. Though maybe not today or my pink mac may spoil the look;-)
And the accompanying saying of the day is ‘looking through rose tinted glasses’.
The saying "looking through rose-tinted glasses" or "rose-coloured glasses" originates from the idea that wearing glasses with rose-coloured lenses can create a more optimistic and cheerful view of the world. While the exact origin is debated, the phrase became popular in the mid-19th century, likely referencing a colour theory that tinted glass could be used therapeutically.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
The phrase "rose-coloured” or "rosy" has been used to describe something hopeful or optimistic since the 1700s.
Possible Origins:
One theory suggests the phrase came from the practice of mapmakers using rose petals to clean their lenses, which might have left a pink residue. Another theory links it to the US Civil War, where soldiers were allegedly given rose-tinted glasses to treat depression.
Figurative Meaning:
Today, the idiom means to view a situation or person with excessive optimism, focusing on the positive aspects while ignoring or downplaying the negative.
Scientific Basis:
Research suggests that positive moods can enhance visual perception and attention to detail, lending a degree of truth to the idea that positive thinking can broaden awareness.
