St James Church, Llangua

“I believe that one defines oneself by reinvention. To not be like your parents. To not be like your friends. To be yourself. To cut yourself out of stone.”
Henry Rollins

Very much a last minute decision to visit. I was in need of another photo for the family history journal and did a quick check online to see if the work to the church was finished. Not only that but it was open! Rushed to finish things off and had to be back for 4pm for the Broadband engineer visit so I didn’t hang about. Two couples already there, but they left soon after I arrived, after a brief chat, leaving me in peace for my meditation. Later I was joined by a family group, interesting chat about the church history and the story that it was originally dedicated to St Ciwa, a local female saint said to have been raised by wolves. It’s undergone quite a transformation since I last visited - it’s been closed for years (roof in danger of collapse) and the restoration has taken a year. Looking its best once more and positively glowing in the afternoon sunshine thanks to Friends of Friendless Churches.
