Pecker Lessons

The Green Woodpeckers have had a chick, and today Dad  brought his newly fledged offspring into the garden for lessons on how to find insects and their eggs in the lawn.  

The youngster started off pretty clueless and kept wanting Dad to feed him.  But Dad persisted and after a good half hour of Dad showing the youngster how it was done, and occasionally sharing the spoils, the young bird eventually picked up the skill.  It didn't stop it occasionally demanding a free hand out, but that's kids for you!
