Settling In

Hubby sent me a text in our new bedroom, “your mother is awake”. Downstairs I headed. I made a light but healthy breakfast for her, raisin bread toast, banana and black coffee. Hubby headed out to get groceries. He came back with my mother’s treats: crossword book, peppermint patties, almond bear claws, peppermint hard coffee, and chewable baby aspirin. She couldn’t be happier. Well, until after she had her shower and put on a fresh outfit. Said she felt so good. She is still confused about being here. She doesn’t recognize our home. And she is not sure why she is here. When I said “yes” to the question, “am I going to live here?”, she was all smiles though. My sister and BIL stopped by with some summer outfits for Momma. They are going to pick up a few things that we can put in her room so it feels more like her home. She also needs toiletries that she likes. There are cabinets full at her home. I organized our new room upstairs a bit more. We used it last time she and my father were here. The bed is comfy. I did two loads of laundry. Hubby has a Knights’ meeting tonight. I am hoping he will pick up a rotisserie chicken for dinner. We have to serve soft food now. Hoping you have an enjoyable meal this evening. Stay safe.
