The cost of blueberries

My dil gave me two blueberry plants which weren’t doing well in their garden. So at my allotment I gave them a whole little raised bed to themselves. And bought them a big bag of ericaceous compost - which is more acidic than the normal soil at my plot, and is what blueberries need. Which cost £9! And I make sure they are kept well watered and generally give them love and attention.
Very taken with the minty green colour of the berries before they start to ripen - which goes so nicely with the purply blue. I tried one of the ripe-ish looking ones, and it really wasn’t.  I expect when they are delicious and sweet, the birds will have them, as they did my little collection of cherries on my new dwarf cherry tree. Oh well. I do love birds:-))
Today I could hear swifts above my head both at home and the allotment - but they were so high I couldn’t spot them.
A getting things done day, including haircut, going to the tip, washing, even a teeny bit of cleaning.  It’s been too hot for hoovering for a while.  Today was cooler and fresher, I found myself really enjoying the feel of it. Today’s audiobook was Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig, which I read (with my ears) in one go.
