Walking around the harbourside
My friend who used to live just around the corner has moved down to a flat by the harbourside. A morning spent walking the circuit, stopping at one of the many cafes, and catching up, is always a pleasure. But especially today, with sunshine, fluffy clouds and fantastic flowers. I couldn’t decide which of these two I liked best so I put both. The extra shows the plants growing on the new pontoon, which provides a place for swans, ducks and so on, as well as for bees, butterflies and other important critters. Further extensions to the pontoons keep being added. To make a ‘corridor’ I guess.
The other main excitement of the day was digging out my sewing machine, as I had a couple of shirts to mend. Definitely need to mend rather than getting new, these days. It must be at least 20 years since I even opened the case. And it worked perfectly! So that was satisfying. Took me a while to do the mending, as invisibly as I could.
Instead of an audiobook today, I was listening to the test match between England and India. Being a not very patriotic person, I don’t necessarily support England, especially in cricket. I just enjoy listening to Test Match Special, a habit I got from my mum, and supporting India in this match. It’s developed a bit since my mum’s time. Used to be just posh white English men - some of whom were very funny, to be fair. Now they have as many Indian commentators as English for this series, and (almost) as many women as men. Such progress:-))
