Sorrel

Very heavy rain showers today which is disappointing after the previous day.
Also disappointing weather for the King's visit to Campbeltown today.
This Royal visit, as you can imagine, caused a fair bit of disruption but from the Facebook postings it looks as though it went well.
This I believe is sheep sorrel.
The term sorrel apparently comes from the old French surele which refers to the fact that the plant is known for its sour taste. The sour taste coming from the oxalic acid present in the leaves.
At the moment it is flowering and peppering the green grasses of meadows with crimson and pink.Thought it would work for Ingeborg's Abstract Thursday.
Sadly didn't see the meteor that lit up the sky over parts of Scotland last night.
