Scarborough
After yesterday’s rain today has been beautiful and sunny.
We spent the day in Scarborough, mostly visiting old haunts. Some things haven’t changed much.
The main photo is taken from just above the Clock Cafe where we stopped for coffee and scones.
The large building you can see is the Grand Hotel.
( unfortunately not so grand now)
Before that on the right is the Spa. I don’t know how many of you remember Max Jaffa who used to have open air concerts there from 1956 to 1986.
The extra collage of many other places we visited.
The top two photos are of the newly restored Italian Gardens. Constructed in 1912 and restored 2022/24.
2nd left Holbeck Clock Tower and gardens.
3rd left. Peasholm Park and the Japanese bridge.
You may be able to spot one of the model boats used in the mock naval battles.
As a child I always thought these so exciting.
3nd right MrC watching the waves.
3rd right one of the new children’s slides.
Bottom left HMS Archer ( P264)A Coastal Forces Squadron , providing maritime security and operations within Europe’s coast waters.
Bottom right Two fishing boats surround by hungry seagulls.
Second extra. We came back up to the top in the Spa Cliff Lift. Celebrating 150 years.
We both certainly had an enjoyable day especially bringing back memories of our childhood.
Only thing that was missing was The Corner Cafe where we both enjoyed the best knickerbocker glories ever!
