What a day

Nice walk before breakfast, only 20c and breezy. Got through three passport checks and dog check and in line for ferry before the latest check-in time given of 10:30. Just about to go for a coffee and was asked if we wanted to go on the earlier ferry, which was running 45 minutes late, we said yes so loaded immediately.
Great crossing and off by 11:15 UK time. Everything going well until we came to a complete standstill four miles from Dartford crossing, and we then took 2 hours to do four miles.
Even after we were through kept hitting holdups and reached Cambridge services five hours later, we should have been home by then and still at least two hours more to do.
I went to M&S for ingredients for a chilli and hubby got coffees from costa.
The member of staff at the self service till started chatting about the problems with traffic today and I told her about our journey so far, she left me and as I picked up my shopping to leave she came back with a lovely bunch of flowers and said she hoped the rest of our journey was better, how lovely was that.
So tired so only unpacked essentials, doing blip and then heading for a long soak with lots of bubbles.
Not a great end, but a fabulous holiday and not going to complain that it was far too hot.
