Last day with my friend and her wife, and their dog Gerry, and I followed them down South.
We dropped my suitcase at my mums, and then continued to a small town called Vadstena, by the lake Vättern. My friend and I met there 27 years ago. She came to the school I was at, as an exchange student, working in the admin and with teachers. I don't remember how she became part of our friend group, but she and I have stayed in touch ever since, even though she lives in Germany.
Anyway... we took a stroll in town, passing by the rune stone by the church. It's about a 1000 years old and has been standing at this place since 1820 something. Much of the writing has been lost, but someone rose this stone in his fathers memory.
Then we passed by the part of the school where I did my studies in weaving, sewing and other handicraft, then on to the school grounds where things felt familiar, but as a distant memory. We went down to the lake to give Gerry a much needed (wanted) fun and splashing around in the water, then we went to by pizzas from the pizza place we've been to many times while attending the school. Best kebab pizza in Sweden! And, just as yummy as we remembered!
The last thing we did, before taking a stroll through town, was to visit the herb garden. Beautiful place. :)
Then they drove me to the train station, where I took a train home to my mums' and they continued to their place of rest for the evening, before returning home the day after.
Bitter sweet to say goodbye.
