Christopher Columbus' ship
The day started early with a fab walk and swim with the lovely MLaM. We parked up next to a cousin Fiat 500 and went for a walk past the beach huts an returned to the beach for a calm water swim. We both challenged each other and swam past 3 buoys (naming each one as we went). Such a beautiful way to start the day!
I heard on the radio that the Santa Criuz (a replica of Christopher Columbus' ship) was moored at Southend pier. A good excuse for a walk and a chance to see the spectacle. It was surprising how small it was. The men manning the ship during the crossing to the American continent must have been very brave, especially as at that time they thought that the world was flat and they could fall to their death.
We parked up at Chalkwell Park and walked along the front following the parkrun route before getting the pier train to the end. Having spotted a plane passing over, I commented that we had seen trains, and boats and planes ... B remembered a 1960s song with that title and we both walked back to the car happily singing and reminiscing about the day and the song. Such fun!
