New life in old
The wet and windy weather persists in squalls now, rather than continuous. This afternoon I was able to walk around one of my shorter circuits without being wet or buffeted. Didn't get the light right for the Kereru (Wood Pigeon) pair, and the mallards failed to get in the right position.
For my blip I chose a photo of a young Mapou (a native shrub or small tree) growing from within the stump of a Ponga (tree fern). It appears to not have any competition.
This is behind our letterbox, and in time it will help fill that corner of the property.
The Government is starting to behave as a censor. Presumably led by David Seymour they have limited the hearing of public submissions markedly. I can't help but anticipate that the 30 hours of hearings being permitted, will be split evenly between proponents and opponents, when it is probable that as with the Treaty Principles bill, over 90% opposethis Bill.
If anything the other bit of censorship is even worse. There is a tri-annual Youth Parliament at which College aged young persons debate issues in Parliament buildings. They have been told what they can and cannot say in their speeches. The reasoning being largely that this is meant to be a 'non-partisan' event. One defender of the instructions given to the young persons criticises the opponents because they are 'aligned' to left wing policies.
This Government is doing everthing that they can to muzzle criticism of the developing fascism in this country.
