Vevey
I braved the mounting heat and set off by train to Vevey along the lake. I left early and enjoyed the lakeside and did some marketing there of fresh fruit and vegetables. I stopped at an outside terrace in the shade to have an iced ginger drink. By late morning the heat was getting very uncomfortable and so I caught the train back to Lausanne, then the metro, then a bus to get home. The connections were excellent, but the heat was horrendous.
It was still lovely to have a change of scene, though I should have gone even earlier and come home at about 10:30 instead of 1 pm.
My afternoon was spent quietly: fan iced water and cooling neck band.
Extras:
- walking along the water's edge
- sitting in the shade, the market can be seen in the distance behind the parked cars
- a sailing boat passing by as I was sitting on my shady bench
