Ring necked parakeet
After a good night's sleep we were up in time to meet up with the other governors for breakfast. I had packed my own overnight oats as I prefer to eat that, especially when I was not sure what would be on offer for breakfast.
The day's proceedings started with the final chapel service for the term, which was followed by coffee and then on to the prize giving. The prize giving always blows me away - the breadth of talent is just incredible to see. One lad has an offer to study fine art at the Ruskin school of art at Oxford University, without the need for a foundation year which is the norm - he is an exceptionally talented artist, he scored 100% in his A level art exam and I am sure he will flourish. Another student who has been offered a place at a music college to study musical theatre performed a jazzy number that gave us goosebumps. There were many reading maths, physics or medicine at Oxbridge, some getting scholarships. I find it so reassuring to see a new generation of talent coming into the big wide world.
We got home just after Xena had been dropped off by Fiona. We were about to take her for another walk when Adam and Anna arrived, so I stayed home to chat to them. Adam has had a good week in Cambridge, starting with the award ceremony for the prize he won and then a week of packing up his flat and arranging for it to be rented, when Anna moves out of it to join him in San Diego at the end of this month. He also had time to catch up with school and university friends.
It has been a busy weekend for everyone. Inca graduated yesterday, after six long years she is now a vet, well done to Dr Inca! She had a second graduation today through the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons). Luke and Meriel are in Dorset at the wedding of one of Luke's close friends from school. They are entering 'wedding season' as a few of their friends are getting married this summer.
While we enjoyed sushi for supper, this parakeet was trying to decide between seeds or fatballs...
