Fritillary butterfly

(I am posting this a day late as I never had my computer with me yesterday)

I had a lovely run through the woods with Xena early this morning - I tend to run indoors on the treadmill during winter as it’s too muddy outside, but in summer it’s wonderful to be out early listening to the birds as I run. We did a walk again much later where I saw so many butterflies and photographed this one, I think it could be a dark green fritillary?

I had an appointment with the hygienist this morning, and I phoned beforehand to add also seeing the dentist to the appointment. Some time ago he told me I was grinding my teeth in my sleep and I did not believe him or take it seriously. However when Gavin got ill and I was super stressed I was waking up every morning with a very painful jaw that was clicking as I tried to eat. My teeth have also feeling painful,  so today the dentist checked this and my grinding has got worse, the enamel has worn away from the edge of my teeth. He has recommended a night guard to protect the teeth when I grind, so today he took a 3D scan to get the mould made for my teeth. It’s all high tech today with a scanner inserted into the mouth and drawn over the teeth to get an exact scan of the teeth, gone are the days of having that huge lump of plasticine type of stuff inserted into your mouth to get an impression while your gag reflex kicks in!

Fiona came to collect Xena for her overnight stay, as Gavin and I have the year end governor functions at the school. Tonight is the music scholars leaving concert which is always sublime - each musician plays a solo piece with the full orchestra accompanying him. This is followed by the governors and guests dinner, hosted by Gavin, and as it ends late we all stay over at the local Premier Inn. Gavin had a make speech which included thanking the departing teachers and governors and giving them a leaving present. It’s an early start tomorrow morning with chapel first followed by prize giving, si ut is best to stay over - I have driven back and forth in previous years to go home, but it results in very little sleep.

I don't know what happened to that little fledgling, I kept going outside to check on it and eventually it was gone. I am not sure if a parent rescued it or another larger bird had a tasty dinner.
