Black Cat
I saw this colour combination in a local garden and wanted to record it as a reminder to try in my own patch. The flowers are a scabious called ‘Black Cat’ and possibly clary sage.
A change in the weather today - we woke to overcast skies and a much cooler temperature. It felt such a pleasure to be able to get on with things without overheating.
My task this morning was to give the allotment some attention, so while Andy walked Merlin, I was at my plot. The priority tasks were to plant out some kale and winter greens. I grew them from seed and they had got rather leggy as I have been waiting for a cooler day to put them in. It took a while to prepare the ground which had become so hard due to a lack of rain. Anyhow, they are now in and protected from slugs and butterflies….I hope.
This afternoon I acquired a small dehydrator. I’ve decided to see if I can use one to dry some of the fruits from the allotment so I can preserve them to use them in cakes, smoothies etc. Last year I tried using the oven to dehydrate apple rings but it didn’t work very well. I’m looking forward to trying out the dehydrator.
