It rained a little bit
Plants got a teeny bit wet, but the soil not so much. This is my front garden - a narrow strip of soil and a few paving stones. The two plants - a berberis and a daphne ( which smells wonderful) have been there since autumn. They’re settling in, but not growing much. The soil is quite poor. The nasturtiums planted themselves of course.
Highlight of today was going to the school fair at the primary school at the end of my road, where my son went. My 10 year old neighbour, along with some friends, was running a waffle stall, and I had promised to go and get one. They had a very efficient production line set up, from making the batter to serving the customers. I enjoyed my chocolate and banana waffle very much.
In the evening I watched 2073 - a film I had understood to be dystopian sci-fi set in the future. Actually turns out to a real world dystopia of now - the diminishing of democracy, attacks on investigative journalists , climate chaos, and the power of IT, AI and surveillance systems. I’m glad I saw it. And there was nothing in it I don’t worry about anyway….but it was very powerful and hard to watch.
Just before I watched it I had been reading about the Metropolitan Police arresting under the Terrorism act a group of older people for standing still with placards in support of Palestine Action. I’ll try to add a link here
