Lace
This striking lace pattern, a gable end installation by NeSpoon, lifts the streetscene across the road from Bradford Cathedral. I’ve deliberately extended the view to include some of the neighbouring drab walls just to help convey the impact of a mural like this.
I was walking back into town after my first visit to a new football ground (4G council facility), just off the Barkerend Road at Myra Shay. Local teams Route One Rovers, Albion Sports and Halifax Women will all be based here from now on, so I expect I will have many repeat visits. Today Route One were hosting Lancastrians Daisy Hill in a pre-season friendly (extra). Last season they were in the same league (NWCFL D1N) but the move to Myra Shay has enabled Route One to have a lateral transfer into the NCEL, along with most of the other Bradford area clubs.
The newness of the ground meant there were plenty of out of town groundhoppers in attendance and I spent most of the game chatting with a couple of them. It was a pretty good game, but ended nil-nil.
Earlier, I’d also attended a 12:00 at Bradford (Park Avenue), with near neighbours Halifax Town today’s opponents. 1-1 was the final score there.
A busy day of buses and football, to and fro across the city.
