Little Perforations

I was out for a walk this morning before the rain arrived! 

I thought that this bindweed flower with the almost perfectly round perforations in the petals was fascinating :-)

Out of the hundreds of flowers this seemed to be the only one affected :-)

I wonder how they were caused - maybe a caterpillar chomped through the bud before it opened?? Seems odd that only one flower was like this.

An extra today of a rather popular scabious flower…there were a few more hoverflies on it but they flew off as I approached.
