Great Spangled Fritillary

I thought I would photograph a Canada Goose today, seeing as it's Canada Day and all, but the geese were nowhere to be found. Funny, you might not know where they are, but you always know where they've been..... Maple leaves abound, but they are not particularly interesting at this time of year. A plate of perogies?

Anyway, the tree lilacs were in a productive mood (no Canadian Tiger Swallowtails though) but I found a Buckeye (not especially common), a Silvery Checkerspot, a black morph Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, a Silver-spotted Skipper, numerous Ctenucha moths (always present) and this lovely fritillary that I think I've identified correctly.

Busy day, the Jimbo was presenting his somewhat contravertial talk, all went smoothly, no rotten fruit and no bricks have been thrown through the window (yet). Dinner out to celebrate. Did I mention it was a beautiful day? It was.
