Luca "Ozzie" Owen
Day two with the boys, fortunately after a good night's sleep all round. No 4.45 a.m. wake-up calls.
Luca and Eben have been given a Nintendo Switch by a friend of Josh and Ruth's. This is an object of intense fascination and delight for them both, and they brought it with them for the weekend. Happily for us, session time is controlled via an app on Josh's phone, so we were relieved of all responsibility for rationing screen time, and could simply say "time's up" when each day's allotted time expired.
Apart from that, in the morning Richard took Eben to Weston Park Museum to visit the Pete McKee exhibition, which he's been wanting to see for a while. I took Luca to the Treehouse Board Games Cafe on the edge of the city centre, an imaginative and delightful place. This meant that each lad could have some one-to-one time.
While Eben was out, Luca explored the drum kit. I really hope that he'll opt into lessons when he's a little older - he has a great sense of rhythm and seems to love exploring the different sounds on the kit. It's a pretty grainy photo, but I liked the way the light fell on Luca's face. It's been comprehensively faffed-with in Nik SilverEfex software.
