White Lace Cap Hydrangea.
The 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time I the Christian Calendar.
The Feast Day of Saint Maria Goretti. Born 16th October 1890, Corianaldo, Italy. Died 6th July 1902, Nettuno, Italy.
Patron Saint of chastity, teenage girls, rape victims, poverty, purity, forgiveness, the Children of Mary.
The morning was rainy so I arrived at the Parish Church with a wet kagoul. Most others there were rain soaked too.
Father gave an inspiring sermon based on the Gospel, Luke 10:1-9. In essence, " the harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few."
It gradually turned into a sunny afternoon. It was a welcome 21c most of the afternoon, my favourite temperature.
Paul went to B&Q hopeful of buying the right parts to mend the cistern but no joy. Now we are waiting for a recommended plumber to phone back. The cistern is working, but water is making a continuous flow into the loo, when it shouldn't.
Later I went for a pleasant blip walk to photo roses at The Esplanade and there were several lovely roses, especially the yellow and pink ones.
I walked on to Cut Wood and by then, it was very warm and sunny.
When I got home, two young girls were walking a chocolate colour labrador in our Close. It was running in and out of gardens at high speed. I told the girls I would like them to put it on a lead but they struggled to get the dog to obey them. It was a surprisingly unusual scenario, but I was glad to get home.
I hope you are enjoying a happy Sunday.
