Potentilla

A drop of moisture lingers in the centre of a potentilla flower, as proof that during lunch we had a short, sharp burst of heavy rain accompanied by one rumble of thunder.

Our Turkish guests seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. We had a lovely lunch together, with lots of interesting discussions and much laughter. First thing this morning I had made yet another raspberry torte, and some raspberry sauce to go with it, because it’s T’s absolute favourite and I thought her brother and his girlfriend might like it too.

T was over the moon because she’d been secretly hoping I’d serve it to them at some point in their stay because she knew they’d love it. And they did. When second helpings were being distributed, I just about managed to keep back a couple of slices so that I can offer some to our friend who’s over from Australia and coming to visit us tomorrow!

The Turkish visitors went to visit the Olympic Park at Stratford this afternoon, so after they left I made a batch of my famous ‘Nutty Joys’, which are gingery oaty biscuits. I thought they might enjoy those as they’ve told me that Turkish people are renowned for having a sweet tooth.
