Booths

Our last holiday day drive home was wet and very cloudy.

The bright spot was shopping at Booths and a Coffee & Croissant at the cafe. This was Barrowford (near Nelson) we used A65 From the M6junc to Kirkby Lonsdale, then Ingleton, Settle to Long Preston the South to Gisburn.

All roads to that point were very quiet. I can’t remember a time driving through Ambleside to the M6 junction with so little traffic. We drove through Windermere without having to stop even at the mini roundabout for Kirkstone Pass.

Home to just after lunch - disappointed that it was such a poor weather.

Then as it has been for 50 years, the Coral Eclipse at Sandown at 3:35.
There was a time in the last century when I would bet on the horses - I did stop completely. I still retain the calendar for the big races in my head but not many still have the same sponsor.
