Stupid is as stupid does
It was about three hours after leaving the house when I realised that not only had I left my work car running at home, I had also left the keys to the car AND MY HOUSE in said car, which - for good measure - was also unlocked.
Unfortunately, this epiphany came to me in Elterwater, which whilst very pretty (see pic) is also known as the land that mobile signal forgot, so we hurriedly made our way back to Chester’s and jumped on their wifi to make a call to the next-door neighbour, who thankfully picked up and took care of business.
That the car remained in situ and my home unscathed is testament to the largely crime-free area we live in.
My mild coronary aside, we had a lovely walk and picked up some delicious cakes and doughnuts, the latter of which would find it’s jammy contents dripped all over my nephew by The Youngest when we stopped by my sister’s for an afternoon brew.
Then it was back home to watch 100% Englishman-who-doesn’t-sound-like-a-kiwi-at-all; Cameron Norrie complete an epic five-set victory to take him into the quarter finals.
Great end to a lovely weekend.
