Atypical
At home, in Argyll, I have long known that if the weather forecast suggests that there will be rain at some point in the day, it will probably rain. And it will usually rain on me. Not here, though. We thought we’d have rain in the late afternoon and on into the evening; indeed I took this photo, of the purple rain clouds over Fife, in the sure expectation that it’d soon - like in four minutes - be wet here too.
But it wasn’t. Indeed it’s now a lovely evening and any clouds I can see are benign. And I’m so tired I may well fall asleep and drop my phone…
I was wide awake in the middle of the night for a start - it was not quite 4am and I was wondering quite what I’d do other than put on the light and read, a bit antisocial when you’re not alone. It was also daylight- most discombobulating. I dozed on and off till it was a respectable hour to drink tea and read blips …
A result of the lack of sleep was to make me not feel like going very far today. So I sat in the sun outside doing Italian, had coffee, walked along to Asda for bits and bobs of non-labour-intensive food. We watched some tennis after lunch, had a bit of a sleep, and went for a by now very blowy walk along towards Granton, leaving the sea-front to explore streets of huge houses, a surprising number of which had towers. We sat for a while in Starbank Park, where Himself used to be taken when he was very small. A grey squirrel stared boldly - reds they are not!
And that was the day. It’s Ewan and Morgane’s wedding anniversary today - I’ve just noticed that they were celebrating with my favourite champagne. They were married in Binic, where they are now - what a great celebration that was!
The sun is just setting; tomorrow is set to be fine. Maybe we’ll have wakened up a bit!
