Arrival
It was a beautiful sunny morning as I sat on the top deck of a number 18 bus heading towards the airport. It's a convulsed route through Colinton, Wester Hailes and the Gyle and there a few stops to keep to time, the traffic not being busy, and then a queue to get through the airlock at arrivals drop off. But I arrived before 9.
The plane was showing an arrival of 9.19 and I watched it, in the app, come in over Peebles and Musselburgh before it landed at 9.26 and arrived (the gate?) on schedule at 9.35.
I had planned to have coffee and breakfast while waiting but of course I didn't. Just grabbed a pastry from Sainsbury's and stood and watched streams of people come through the doors, trying to spot the Istanbul flight.
It was busy, busier because of the phalanx of uniformed folk doing meet 'n greet fire the Scottish Open.
Before 10 a message from #1 son too say he'd got the bags but was waiting for 'the foreigners'. It was ages, at least an hour after arriving, that they all emerged. There had only been one Border Force desk open for foreigners despite 2 transatlantic and 3 European flights landing close to one another. But there arrived.
We sat in the garden and chatted and ate snacks and the girls checked out the plants. Olivia was freezing! They haven't brought much luggage. I think not enough actually, so shopping is a priority.
After lunch, inside, WH and Olivia went for a sleep (that was Olivia for the rest of the day) and the rest of us went up to 7 Acre Park so Amelia could play. #1 son loved the views.
Back home he tried to snooze and after some TV Amelia and I went to Margiotta, the highlight being an unfortunate incident with a tub of cream.
Then, after 6, she gave in and went to bed. I gave #1 son a lift into town to meet a friend and then WH and I agree pizza and watched some TV while she worked. She also shared their plans so I am a bit clearer.
And in other news #2 son has now bought tickets and arrives on the 19th. Means I'll now be meeting the complete set, Turkish, Qatar and Emirates. The fun is starting.
