Y tu ôl i'r llyfrgell

Y tu ôl i'r llyfrgell ~ Behind the library

“The discovery of magic can happen only when we transcend our embarrassment about being alive, when we have the bravery to proclaim the goodness and dignity of human life, without either hesitation or arrogance. Then magic can descend onto our existence.”
― Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

Roedden ni'n yn y parc tu ôl i'r llyfrgell eto am Gymraeg, oherwydd bod y tywydd yn braf. Galla i'n bendant clywed yn well pan rydyn ni'n du allan. Mae'n fwy ymlaciol hefyd.

Ces i sgwrs neis gyda Gwilym. Weithiau roedd hi'n teimlo mor naturiol â siarad Saesneg. Dwedodd e wrtha i rywbeth diddorol: mae'n debyg bod tri deg y cant o bobl yn yr Eglwys Newydd yn siarad Cymraeg. Roeddwn i bob amser yn meddwl ei fod tua 30 o bobl, nid tri deg y cant. Ces i ddim syniad. Dylwn i fod yn ffeindio mwy o bobl i sgwrsio.

Wrth y llyfrgell, mae ganddyn nhw arddangosfa o flodau (yn nhrefn yr wyddor yn ôl pob tebyg). Dyma 'Inula Helenium' neu 'Elecampane'* (yn ôl 'Plantnet), hefyd 'Horse-Heal' neu Marchalan yn Gymraeg. Hanes hir o ddefnydd mewn meddygaeth, rydw i'n meddwl. Doeddwn i erioed wedi clywed yr enw o'r blaen, ond beth bynnag yr enw, mae'r gwenyn yn eu hoffi nhw.

We were in the park behind the library again for Welsh, because the weather was nice. I can definitely hear better when we are outside. It's more relaxing too.

I had a nice chat with Gwilym. Sometimes it felt as natural as speaking English. He told me something interesting: apparently thirty percent of people in Whitchurch speak Welsh. I always thought it was about 30 people, not thirty percent. I had no idea. I should be finding more people to chat with.

At the library, they have a display of flowers (probably in alphabetical order). This is 'Inula Helenium' or 'Elecampane'* (according to 'Plantnet'), also 'Horse-Heal' or Marchalan in Welsh. A long history of use in medicine, I think. I had never heard the name before, but whatever the name, the bees like them.
