A rite of passage

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes on yesterday’s blip. Much appreciated.

I enjoyed my Monday free from the office.  I went and had an induction session at the new gym and think I will like it there.  My legs were super wobbly after the session thanks to squats and lunges so think a few muscles got a workout they haven’t had in a while.

Mum, dad, Leo and I popped to the Old Well for lunch and I had a very tasty ham ploughman’s salad.  It came with such a huge granary roll that it filled me up for the rest of the day.

Then mid afternoon it was time for Leo and Bobbie to head off to their caravan holiday in Exmouth. That was a real rite of passage, the first time they have taken themselves off for a holiday with no parents around.  They were meant to be going with friends of theirs but that couple split up a few weeks ago.  I said I would cover their share of the costs so Leo and Bobbie could still enjoy a break.

It reminded me of my own time after A levels. Just like Leo I headed off on a caravan holiday after A levels. I headed to Brean Sands with 4 friends to celebrate the end of school and us all going our separate ways. As a blast from the past you can see me and my good friend Tracey on our caravan trip all those years ago (extra).

It was too hot for me too do much outside all day. I waited for the evening and then put a couple of coats of (not) creosote on the shed.  It is falling apart but hopefully this will give it a bit more life until we replace it.  It soaked it up almost as soon as I brushed it on so think I will need to give it several more coats.

If I can face it I will tackle the fences next - they will need to be evening jobs too as it is going to be scorching hot all week.

Bobbie sent this picture (extra) later of Leo enjoying a nice sunset on the first evening of their stay.
