MONDAY
I went out into the garden this morning, but it was unpleasant without a coat on—chilly, with a stiff breeze—so I came back indoors after about half an hour.
This evening, I headed off to Betws-yn-Rhos to play for the A team in a cup match against Min y Don, a very strong side. We were playing on a neutral green, and I was drawn against their best player.
I lost 12–21, which, as it turned out, was one of the better results for our team. We had just one winner overall and were comprehensively knocked out of the competition.
The green at Betws-yn-Rhos is an artificial surface, similar to those used for indoor bowls. As a result, it's very fast—but it’s not uniform and has some odd undulations, so having the jack here is a big advantage.
