Spuds

Today we had an email from the allotment association letting us know that there appeared to be potato blight on the allotment and warning us that our spuds were at risk. So we took a trip down this evening in the rain to see what was happening. Our potatoes, luckily, didn't seem to be affected, but they are near another plot where there is what definitely looks like blight, so we chopped the foliage down to the ground, and dug up some of the potatoes which seem OK. The others we left in the ground, they will keep for a bit there (although won't do much more in the way of growing) and be safe from the blight as it enters through the affected leaves. It's such a shame, but that's the great British weather for you I guess - this sudden rain and warmth means that blight can easily get a foothold. Anyway - here's what we dug up today, this will keep us going for a while.
