Look Out

Backblip; Dive

Just before our departure from Loch Eport a white tailed eagle flies over the boat, and red throated divers fly over the Loch. My camera is in its bag.

We head to Lochmaddy where the tender takes us ashore. It’s raining steadily, but the museum/ craft centre is open, and there’s a little café. It’s an interesting place.

Lunch back aboard the boat and we then head to Tarvin on Harris. It’s still raining heavily as the tender takes us ashore. The Harris tweed shop is about to close, but stays open a little longer as the group browses. I walk around the village - it’s a working place, and not picturesque but interesting nonetheless.

Back at the boat thecaptain is advising us that the weather outlook is not good for getting to St Kilda, the boat will be OK but we’ll be very uncomfortable. After a little discussion the decision is for a Plan B, which is tomorrow.

I took the blip image on the way to Tarvin. Heavy rain and I’m the only one on deck. Gannets, gulls and shearwaters are piling in on a shoal of fish. I’m not leaving the deck whilst I can watch the commotion, it’s spectacular.,
