Neighbour

Tony went off to walk up Ingleborough this morning so I cracked on with my list of jobs.  A load of washing went in.  I put some more books out in the 'free books' box outside the front door, which are going down well with my neighbours.  Indeed, two of them arrived to peruse the titles and we had an impromptu literary review on the door step.   Next was an hour picking blackcurrants in the allotment.  After a coffee break I processed the fruit and then set about lopping the willow arch which has grown seriously out of control.  It was time for lunch which was an eclectic mix of the salmon Tony had left me and the out of date Portobello mushrooms!

Next on my list was an hour in the drying ground.  As I checked out whether the nature trail needed cutting back, I saw a movement in the field next door and there was the deer of my blip, struggling to find a way out as a higher fence has been added to dissuade him and his pals munching the grass and depriving the livestock P has housed here.  The deer eventually went through an open gate towards the street.

It was very hot working out in the sun so I soon retreated beneath the mature sycamore tree to continue pulling out the obstinate brambles until Tony returned and I finished for the day.
