Roll With It

Welcome Back

We have been looking forward to The Surfers Against Sewage 35th Anniversary Ball for a while. Treated to our tickets by Mrs S’s brother Mark we set off for Sunny Corner Campsite on a day that promised to be anything but sunny.
Once set up it was time to get changed, the dress code; waist down - board shorts and flip flops, waist up - more formal. I’d decided on a little more colour. A final coffee and by mid afternoon we were off.
Marketed as a milestone event to mark 35 years of protecting our seas, rivers and lakes, to bring together the incredible community of surfers, swimmers, Ocean Activists, and water lovers for an unforgettable celebration.
On a rugged, misty and rainy cliff top in St Agnes three buzzing stages provided different musical offerings, this was not your traditional Ball.
I have been part of SAS for around 25 years and after an extended break it was good to be back, enjoying the ball, given the chance to dance, connect and celebrate.
We left an hour early tired and cold but happy, with the usual comfortable night in the van to come, I fell asleep listening to the rain.
