Brownsea Island Residents

Today I achieved my objective of visiting Brownsea Island, catching the first boat out and last boat back.

I had a lovely day wandering the island and beaches. The famed red squirrels however decided it was too hot to venture out of their hiding places in their fur coats. I did glimpse one on a board walk as I headed back to the quay, but he saw me first and disappeared into the undergrowth before I could even lift the camera!

To make up for it I came across a pair of oyster catchers nesting on a beach, with two adorable youngsters who were clearly at that “young teenager” stage. I was glad of the long lens as anyone who got too near was loudly berated by one of the parents,

Back in Poole the boat captain advised us that it was “Biker Evening” on the quay, with upward of 600 motorcycles turning up for a night out. Although I’m not particularly a fan, some of those machines were awesome. A small insight to the event in extras.

Another good day out … now where do I head tomorrow as I wend my way slowly home?
