Old Grandfather Apple

In the secret garden we have this venerable old apple tree. It produces masses of (eating) apples each year, of what variety I don't know. 
We had it pruned last year just to tidy it up a little, and it has come back at full strength this year. I think it may be more than a century old. It has immense character and we would never consider cutting it down. I'm sure it will outlive me.
