Dierama
Dierama is commonly known as angel’s fishing rod which seems a curiously inappropriate name for a large clump of grass. However, during July long arching stems appear amongst the grassy foliage and these pink flowers develop from buds along the end section of each stem. The flowers are said to resemble fish dangling from a fishing rod, hence the name. Just as in previous years I haven’t noticed the inconspicuous stems developing, until the flowers burst out, giving me a pleasant surprise which they did today.
It was misty for much of the day, especially on my drive to and from Tobermory. I had difficulty finding a parking space but as I wasn’t rushing for an appointment I just waited patiently (sort of) until somebody decided to vacate a space at the Ledaig car park.
I spent the afternoon finishing the two year project - hooray! (see yesterday’s blip and the extra today)
