Duck race day
Holmfirth Art Week started today, and Lucy came over to look round some of the exhibitions. MrM and I drove to Wakefield to meet her off the train from Leeds (no train connection between Leeds and Huddersfield today, just rail replacement buses, and with so many roadworks between home and Huddersfield it seems easier to go to Wakefield!).
MrM suggested lunch at our local garden centre, a very good idea as Holmfirth was absolutely packed out with people who'd come to watch the duck race. I'd totally forgotten that it was being held today!
After lunch we drove home, and Lucy and I walked to the Civic Hall in Holmfirth, where the main art exhibition is held. Three floors of artwork of all kinds, paintings, ceramics, textiles, photographs, wood work....
Quite amazing. Next a couple of Fringe venues, Fair Trader (where I really liked some of the ceramics) and the Methodist Church. Refreshment was long overdue after that, so we went into Coopers Yard, and just happened to bump into Katie and some of the drummers from her other Samba band.
MrM joined us at So Dough, where we enjoyed delicious wood-fired pizzas. All too soon it was time for Lucy to go home, and MrM kindly offered to drive her as it would take an absolute age by public transport, so we had a trip to Leeds.
So busy chatting with Lucy and looking at artwork that I failed to take any photos other than this...
