The second half of life..

It had to be done.....

Many's the time I've passed this iconic roadside shelter/shed/gatehouse along the state highway and many's the time I've wanted to photograph it.  Today I did! Doing so feels a bit like photographing that Wanaka Tree........you know every man and his dog takes the same photo but something tells you yours will be different.........Haha!

A wonderful day.  Firstly on the canal side in thick fog snapping some swallows before saying farewell to my ducks for another year.   No hoar frost this time but I still love this holiday, this area, the time and space to do everything or nothing.  On the road then back towards Tekapo where I decided that a drive along Lillybank Road towards the head of the lake was indeed doable in dear ol' Gerty van.  The fog disappeared well before arriving in Tekapo where there were rich, blue, cloudless skies.  I've wanted to fly my drone over the headwaters of the lake where there are some great braided river beds and I was excited that today was going to be the day.......... Unfortunately I hadn't factored in the wind which was a whole heap more present than at the other end of the lake.  I launched the drone and was able to fly a wee way taking a few pics but the strong winds made it difficult and risky so I decided to be sensible and keep it on my 'still to do' list.   One image in extras but not quite what I'd hoped for.  The horizon isn't level and I've left it that way to remind me just how windy it was and just how much the drone struggled.  I took a heap more images today but this laptop really is struggling to manage them all so I'm not posting any more.  I might change my mind when I get my hands on my new laptop on Saturday though!
