A Plethora of Peacocks

Sadly my sister was unable to come over today, as she’s not well. We spoke on the phone for a while, and then she went to have a rest. I used the day to catch up on missed Blipfoto entries into my journal going back over the past week, and when I publish this one I shall be up to date. Unfortunately I am still very behind with looking at the journals I follow, for which many apologies to my lovely blipfriends and also many thanks for continuing to leave the odd comment and star despite my lack of a reply. I shall try to keep up!!

One of the many causes of tightness for time is my work for St Luke’s - there’s been more to’ing and fro’ing by email and in person regarding the memorial plaques than I had thought the role would entail. Anyone who has followed me since I returned to Blipfoto after Mum’s death will know that any kind of admin is a terrible “bête noire” of mine. However it is very rewarding being able to do this for grieving families. Likewise my weekly Monday mornings spent helping with the upkeep of the church building and in particular the churchyard.

After the disastrous year for insects generally last year, it’s heartening to see so many butterflies, bees and hoverflies fluttering and buzzing around in the sunshine. My buddleia is alive with them, and particularly peacock butterflies, but I also saw large whites, commas, painted ladies and tortoiseshells.

In the evening, after celebrating a shortened but beautifully intimate holy communion, we held our first PCC meeting following the AGM. It was also the last with our Rector Anne-Marie chairing, as she will be leaving us in September to become an Archdeacon in south Wales. I didn’t volunteer to do any more organising or admin-type work (I feel I have reached saturation for now), but I will be helping in a practical way with various projects which are coming together following our recent Vision Day work. Being in vacancy/interregnum for up to two years will not be easy, but we are a strong and resilient lot with many and varied talents to offer, and I am optimistic that we will be just fine.
