Insects

Today I had to get up earlier, since I had my annual review meeting at 10:00. It was already warm as I took Django along the edge of the Estate to Cornbank, and then back home. After showering, I was too late to go in by bus, so took the car for once. The meeting with the Deputy Head of School - who is also in my research group - was very simple. HiGHS is so valuable to the School, and I'm relatively close to retirement, so I can largely tell them what I'll do. Afterwards, I had an interesting call with И and a Chinese former MSc student of ours that might be of genuine value, followed by a more general catch-up with И. I had lunch with PhD student Y, giving her a prompt to start writing her first-year report.

After finishing some admin I went home, approved two expenses claims, submitted two of my own, and walked Django. It was warm and dull, with a lot of insects out, so not exactly pleasant. I took photos at the Ramsay Obelisk, but the light was disappointingly flat, so here's the first insect of the day!
